Every human being has their own passion and most valuable thing in their life to achieve and to hold on to for the rest of their life. Some found it also in different places, situation, and time. I found this also very unique in every person, even though some people may have the similar passion.
Since 20 years, well 22 years exactly, i have felt so many phases and levels of how i see life and myself. One day i could woke up and felt happy and innocent by having fun and spent every little penny i have in my bank account, but one day i could also felt so guilty that i used my life worthless and for nothing. But then everything change since i found what passion is really about. I know it may sounded really cheesy, but if i can find another spectacular word to represents how huge that "thing" really affects my life, i can use that instead.
Education and knowledge is something that most people misinterpret so badly these days. Since long time ago, people would die trying to get enough education to survive, for children, men and woman. Compared to these days, we can found there are so many ways to survive and success, and it doesn't always count education level as the main requirement. Knowledge is so easy to achieve and most important thing of all, some of it are free! Alongside the growth of communication and digital technology, people are not only getting lazier to get moving but also to learn. A person once said to me :
The most valuable thing in school is not studying, but learning
If i need to continue this discussion about education, i have to use another blog since it has so much to criticize especially in Indonesia. Right now, i want to focus on passion that i discovered but surprisingly, knowledge is something that really helped me found one.
Since High School, i believed i have passion related to animal welfare. I know this seems weird but after i got followed by a poor conditioned stray dog and decided to take care of him before he went away mysteriously a month later, i found myself have a special "gift" of saving living creatures beside human. Because i know back then i stereotyped human as an evil, not only because of my bullying experience and my mental problem in social, so i know it is very unlikely if my passion is related to human. It doesn't mean i don't have the guts to help other people in need.
Later on, on my last period of High School when it comes the time to decide what career or college we want to go, both of my parents disagree from my decision in becoming a vet and i want to be nature explorer to save wild animals. Therefore, i wrapped my head and figure out another ways to get related to animals indirectly, which is putting concern on environmental problem. Since then, i used that topic to finish my High School graduation requirement by created a research on Waste Management in School.
Another obstacle is yet to come.
This time, is finding college.
I got rejected for almost 4 state University, and almost 10 tests targeting for Environmental Engineering. That time i was so depressed for not getting any college and afraid of upsetting my parents. Later on i ended up on majoring Industrial Engineering in one of private university in Bandung. Just like another student who felt rejected and got private university instead, i had no goals to achieve and just going on in college day by day only to be graduated. Then, i got a course about Environmental Industry. Everyone else in my class were so overwhelmed by the tasks but this one really motivating. That small lit of fire finally burned up again in my head, and i decided to made it bigger by using waste management again in my thesis. This one is much more challenging and i nearly believed i would fail for the presentation day, but i graduated on time and got cumlaude status instead.
Finally it get me to this point. This time. This date.
Back to what i said about the importance of learning, one day i got bored and randomly picked an english book at books and beyond as my intention to improve my english skill. I highly doubted myself unable to finish the book, neither processed the information. However, the book changed my life (actually only changed my point of view but only to make it dramatic lol). It contains every basic information related to environmental problem that leads to climate change. Specifically on how every little human behavior affects so badly on environment.
I will write another page about what i really learned from this book soon!
Without further talk, i decided to learn more about Renewable Energy. It is not only what the world and especially my country needs currently, it also have wider field of job opportunities. Good thing it also something i "fired" up to know about.
My point is, finding passion is something that really important in life. Without it, life will surely be empty and waste. Nevertheless, without willingness in finding passion will also dragged us back and not moving forward. As a person also once said to me, passion contains 4 main component that intersect with each other:
4 main component to achieve IKIGAI : love, enough knowledge, beneficial (money), and what the world needs
Individual relation and intimate with God also defined my passion. As He told all of us to have compassion to human as well as to nature. Passion that only leads to lust, money, and worldly pleasures will only just destroy human life. This is why passion is not only for and from me, but for God and from God as the creature of the world.
